Rose started teaching right out of Grade 13, settling the family in Hamilton in 1960, she never stopped being a student as well as a teacher over the next 35 years. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, she earned her Masters Degree in Education from McMaster at the age of 50, spent over 10 yrs in Real Estate after retiring from teaching and learned to play Ukelele at 80.
A loving and supportive Mother and Grandmother, Rose’s fearless and mighty spirit touched all who knew her. She will be fondly remembered by a vast and diverse cross section of friends and students spanning generations. Her genuine, non judgemental care and interest in others set the bar high as an example for compassionate humanity and unconditional love.
Her love of life and “ Do it while you can” attitude kept her active and engaged her whole life, inspiring others to do the same. A fixture at the Tuesday night jams, with a soul-deep love of music, at 88, she was in 3 choirs, the Sackville Uke Band and never missed an opportunity to dance.
As her spirit flies, we are thankful for the gift of her that nurtured and shaped so many lives.
Special thanks to Dr. Christina Fugere and her team for the compassionate care and genuine respect during Mom’s journey home.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to your local food bank would be appreciated by her family.
Due to the current COVID-19 Restrictions, we will be having a gravesite service and Celebration of Life at a later date.
