I am so sorry to hear of your loss, your father was a warm and friendly man, and my best wishes are with all of you.  I know how hard it is to lose your father, and I hope that Margie, Tommy and Doug find strength in each other and to help their mother too.  I will think of Roy (or Mr. Griffin and I always called him) everytime I see fireworks and hope that him and my dad are enjoying them too- just like we did when they set them off on Prospect Street all those years ago.

A ripple of shock and dismay echoed throughout Joe Brant ER at the news of Roy's passing. A pall of sadness was palpable, such was the affection and sincere respect for one of Halton's Finest. Roy's admirers are many, his impact always positive. I'm humbled and strive to live up to Roy's example. The Griffin family has much of which to be proud.

We were all young medics once.When I started with Halton-Mississauga Roy was there as a mentor.A wicked sense of humour, devilish smile, with true caring and compassion and a rock under pressure. A champion of labour rights Roy's goal was to make the workplace and life better for everyone. Roy to me was always everyone's " Gentle Giant ", I am grateful to have known such a kind and loving man. Roy was a cornerstone of Halton EMS. Remarkably, after 40 years, always at work early, not just ready, but eager to respond and help the citizens and his coworkers when the call for help came. I will never forget all the times we worked calls together. As big and threatening as you might initially appear, you brought immediate comfort to those in need from your palpable warmth and kindness. Reliable, strong, patient, professional, caring, funny, encouraging. We can never refill the giant hole we now have on B platoon and in our hearts. Roy, you were an inspiration and a breath of fresh air every time I ran into you. I will miss you greatly. My thoughts and prayers to your family that you were so proud of and loyal to.

I was so saddened to hear this news. Roy's infectious smile and hearty laugh will truly be missed by all who knew him. He was certainly a well-respected and trusted member of his EMS family--someone everyone could look up to.  My heart goes out to his family and friends....please accept my sincere condolences. Roy is my friend... He taught me how to be a blue collar paramedic. He taught me how to be strong when everyone was not. He taught me how to overcome adversity. I coached football with Roy. Many games. Championships and great losses. He taught all of us how important the team was... how the many out weigh the needs of one; more important than victories, more important than championships.
