I loved 'Uncle Roy', who was a close friend to my family ever since I was born. He was always happy and had the most infectious laugh! Every time I traveled from Vancouver to Hamilton, I made an effort to spend time with this incredible person who has given me happy memories for the rest of my life. I will miss you!

My godfather, "Uncle Roy" was my dad's best friend. He spent countless hours at our home building, fixing and beautifying our little bungalow. His greeting , "Hi there, beautiful!" always put a grin on our faces. I'll miss him so much.

Barbara,
This quote from RUMI seems appropriate for Roy. . "When I die I shall soar with angels, and when I die to the angels, what I shall become , you cannot imagine."
What a gift is memory!
I am grateful to have walked on several paths of the journey with both you and Roy.. May your special memories carry you through this difficult sojourn. I knew Roy as the principal of Highview School near the start of my teaching career. He kindly followed my professional journey and, over the years, kept in touch. Our paths and yours crossed many more times. Do you recall Mini-Med at The McMaster School of Medicine and our shared passion for classical music
through our years with The Liszt Festival, The Great Romantics Festival and the McMaster University Concert Series? I thank G-d for the memories shared and ask for Roy,
BLESSED REPOSE and ETERNAL MEMORY.

Dear Barbara,
I just wanted to express my sadness to you at Roy's passing.
I was so blessed to have Roy as my first principal at A.M. Cunningham school. His quiet gentle encouragement was much appreciated, if only for a few months as he was promoted to another school. Then for you to be the gifted teacher across the hall; I certainly was in a wonderful learning environment. I have wonderful memories of both of you.
I will be thinking of you in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Liz Hill

Healing prayers and heartfelt condolance to Barbara and family. You are in my thoughts as my memories drift back to an earlier Roy-"Mr. Howard" one of my elementary school principals at Highview School.

Mr. Howard was the principal of Highview in 1962. I was the only one in the grade 6 class that had a portable television. Mr. Howard came to my house one snowy February morning to pick up the TV so we could all watch John Glenn's space flight. He understood the importance of the event and the use of television in education. I had a 33 year career at TVOntario...that day had quite an affect on me. Thank You and R.I.P.
