Rozalia Makohon

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother Rozalia “Rose” Makohon, in her 93nd year at the Juravinski Hospital. Loving mother of Jaroslaw “Jerry” Makohon (Sally) and Irene Hornich (Adrian). Loving and proud grandmother of Damian, Renata and Markian Hornich. Predeceased by her husband Ivan (d.1990) and their daughter Marta (d.1943) in Austria. Predeceased by sister Julia, brothers Pavlo, Nykola, Stephan and Michael. She is survived by nephews Roman and Dennis Hoshowsky of Parsippany New Jersey and extended family in Ukraine.

Visitation will take place at the MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Monday November 4th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Panachyda will take place Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church, 8 St Olga Street on Tuesday November 5, 2013 at 10 am, followed by interment at St. Volodymyr Cemetery in Oakville ON.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and kindness extended to our mother by the doctors, nurses and all health care support staff at the Juravinski Hospital Wards E5 and F3. A special thank you to Dr. P. Leggett and Rita Stokl for their advice and guidance. Memorial donations in Rozalia’s memory to the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies 430 Pembina Hall, University of Alberta, Edmonton AB Canada T6G 2H8 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
