After a long wonderful life on Feb. 5th, 2025 Ruth entered the presence of the Lord at the age of 102. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Anne May(Gary), grandchildren Chris May (Erin), Kelly Kmeth(Michael), great grand children Allie, Leslie (Will), Kendall (Luke), and Easton. Her Sister Freda McConomy, and her nieces Karen, Ellen, Susan M., Jan, Dawn, Susan C. and Marcia and her nephews Perry, Wesley, Ronald, Robert, Richard and Doug. Predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond (1987), her parents Joshua and Vesta, sisters Ethel, Margaret and Nora and her brothers Don and Bill.
Ruth’s life was as rich as it was lengthy. She spent her many years compiling an impressive list of skills and talents. She was quite the song bird and could play any tune on the Ukulele and kept the rhythm flowing with her tambourine. She used her voice to praise her Lord in many churches, seniors groups and LTC homes around Hamilton. She took lessons on jewelry crafting and amassed a treasure trove of her own handmade works, gems and jewels. Just as intricate were her floral creations that she made while working with Arbour Florists.
The talent that her family will miss the most is her baking. Ruth could bake better than anyone bar none. Her apple pies were the centre of many family gatherings, and once you were well fed, she would gather everyone around the kitchen table for a game of Rummy. Ruth’s sweet tooth was unquenchable, you would often see her with her favourite treat of them all, ice cream. In her memory please take some time to enjoy a heaping bowl of ice cream in her honour.
We kindly thank the Oakwood staff of Idlewyld Manor for their amazing care and kindness through the years, you have our deepest gratitude.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the West Highland Baptist Church Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.
Friends may call at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. East on Saturday, February 15th from 2pm - 4pm for visitation. Her funeral service will be held at West Highland Baptist Church (1605 Garth St. Hamilton) on February 16th at 2:30pm. Ruth with be laid to rest in Amherst Nova Scotia at a later date where her spirit will walk the red sand bars of Amherst shore one last time.
