A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and Nonna; Shirley is going to be greatly missed. Not just by family and friends, but by all she interacted with. She was funny, kind, caring, generous, loving and hard working. She started at Dofasco, raised 2 kids, worked at Hall’s Home Hardware, EA Engineered Abrasives and volunteered at the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Shirley was the eldest child of the late Stephen and Mildred Bratina (Glumac). She is survived by her husband of 53 years Nick. Son Warren (Amanda), daughter Melissa and cherished Nonna to Owen; Brothers Bob (Carol), Mike (Carol), Steve (Carol) and her sister and best friend Ellen Shacklock (Mike). Brother in law Matt (Sharon), Bill (Shirley) and sister in law Mary Clarke (Barry deceased) and Joyce Muzak (Ed deceased). With many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, the US and Australia.
Shirley showed her love through cooking and baking, her favourite past times were watching cooking shows and all the various house hunting shows. She had a long standing love/hate relationship with lottery and scratch tickets.
It was her choice to be cremated and we support her decision to have no funeral service.
Lastly, we would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff that treated Shirley. We were impressed with everyone from the paramedics and ER staff to the nurses and doctors in the Nephrology unit and Palliative Care at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Shirley passed away with peace and dignity and she will always be in our hearts and memories.
Rest in peace my love until we are united again for eternity.
