Shirley Ann Poyton

Beloved wife of Jim for 42 years. Loving mother of Arnie Macartney, Lindsay Mitchell (Andrew), and Samantha Poyton. Loved Nana of Abigail, James, and Andrew. She will also be lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be especially missed by her cat, Micky.

Shirley is reunited with her daughter Heather Macartney and mother Mary Cheverie.

Shirley was born in Souris, P.E.I. She moved to Ontario with her mother as a child. She was a past employee of Eaton Electrical Canada and Westinghouse Canada; retiring in 2018 to spend more time with her family.

She loved gardening, reading, watching movies, and playing cards.

But the most important thing in her life was her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

The family wish to thank the staff at St. Peter's Hospital - 3 West, for their compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 11 am to 1 pm and 2 pm - 4 pm with a small reception afterwards. Cremation will follow.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Easter Seals Ontario, would be appreciated by the family.
