Stacey Lynn Henderson

She was a devoted and loving mother to Kody (Sommer), a cherished daughter of Guy (Paulette), and the best sister to Melissa (Ward), Mike, and stepsiblings Ashley and Mark (Cathy). She was an adored aunt to Jacob and Ryan and a proud fur mom to her beloved Karma. She will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Stacey was predeceased by her mother, Gizella.

Kody was everything to Stacey. She was so proud of all of his accomplishments, especially of his career as an iron worker. While Kody was growing up, Stacey was the ultimate “hockey mom” never missing a game and cheering him on with unmatched enthusiasm, often with a cowbell in hand. She supported everything that he did and was extremely honoured to be his mom.

Stacey was proud of the fact that she went back to school to earn her Administrative Assistant Diploma which enabled her to work at McMaster Health Sciences for many years.

Stacey had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether playing baseball, camping, or relaxing at the cottage, she was happiest surrounded by nature. She brought a sense of fun and adventure to everything she did. Those who knew her will remember her fearless spirit—including the time she enthusiastically took part in a demolition derby.

Her bond with her nephew Jacob was especially close. They spent countless happy hours paddleboarding, swimming in the lake, and playing board games. Jacob knew that his Auntie Stacey would do anything for him, and she treasured every moment with him.

Beautiful both inside and out, Stacey will be remembered as honest, trustworthy, and deeply devoted to her family. She touched the lives of many and will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her. We find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her mother and other loved ones, playing cards, sharing stories, and laughter once again.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stacey’s memory may be made to CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health).
