

Peacefully passed away at Macassa Lodge, Hamilton on Friday, August 4, 2023 at the age of 92. Predeceased by his long-time companion Bette Moore. We are sad to report the loss of our dear Stanley Sopranovich. He is also predeceased by his parents, Bernice and Andrew and his younger brother John Sopranowich. He is survived by sister-in-law June Troughton (the late John), nieces Kathleen Fox (Ken), Roseanna Sopranowich (Glenn Taggart) and nephew Michael Sopranowich. Stanley will always be lovingly remembered by his adopted family Robert Clarke (Tama) and their daughter Amanda Sitter. An avid outdoorsman, fly fisherman and fly tyer, having spent many days fishing Atlantic Salmon in the Gaspe. Stanley was very well respected in the community. He was a member of the Hardy Fishing Hall of Fame, a Member of the Isaac Walton Club, and a founding member of the Hamilton Fly Fishers and Tyers club. Stan will be truly missed by his club peers. A well rounded outdoorsman and adventurer, he loved duck hunting, ski patrol, and camping and loved being a pilot flying out of Hamilton airport in his early days. In his younger years he played football, baseball and track and field. Stan and Bette were huge Hamilton TigerCat fans, and season ticket holders for over 40 years. Stanley and Bette loved to travel, they visited Las Vegas over 50 times, as well as Hawaii and many other places in Canada and the U.S.A. Stanley was a loving, energetic and outgoing friendly man and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Visitation at the MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 4-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 11 am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
