Stjepan "Steve" Spehar

Beloved husband of Dora “Dorothy” for 62 beautiful years. Loving father of Christina, who he adored. He is survived by his siblings Zorica Umolac and Ankica Despot and is predeceased by siblings Marica Magas, Dragica Radicanin, Ivan Spehar and Tonica Dunder. He will be missed by Dora’s family, nephews, nieces, piljuni, extended family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered by his good neighbours Mike and Joel. Special thank you to his nephews John Magas, John Umolac, sister-in-law Evica Skrtic and my namesake niece Kristina Topolovic.

Stjepan immigrated to Canada in 1962 from Osojnik, Croatia. He settled in Hamilton where he eventually met his wife Dora and started a family. Longtime employee of Dofasco for over 30 years. Stjepan was very proud of his garden and could often be found outside. Family meant everything to him. He was very selfless and could always be counted on for support when called upon. Visitation at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, on Monday, March 30 from 5-8 p.m. with Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church, 1883 King Street East, Hamilton, on Tuesday, March 31 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Cross Church in Stjepan’s name.
