To the prior condolences, thank you so very much.  My hope in sharing this is to adjust  with the grief.

I had the opportunity to accompany my papa to the Philippines in 1994.  I'm glad that I did, because it gave me appreciation of papa's connection to family back home, the home away from home here in Ontario, Canada.  Teodoro Azarcon Reyes was born in Sigma, Capiz, Panay Islands of the Visayas Islands, Philippines.  The youngest son of the late Salvador and Lourdes Reyes; he was predeceased by his sister Lillian and brother Vicente.  He grew up in the country, worked on his parents' fruit farm and, when there was time, visited their rice fields in Nato.  He came from a modest upbringing but that laid the foundation to his work ethic 'hard work or no work at all' sometimes it was no work but, wow, did he play hard too.  Apparently, according to him (a few days later on it was confirmed by his cousins that) he would swim to and from school almost every single day of the school year.  
"Oh yeah papa . . . how??"  He showed me the backyard of the house where he grew up in and right there at about 70yrds away from the house was a creek.  This creek was approximately 15 to 20 yards across in length.  He swam to get his education.  In addition, he expended his energies to climbing coconut trees that were over 15 feet tall . . . .  barefoot.  He did so, so that he could drop the coconuts to the ground and enjoy the fruits of his labour with his family. Papa was a good man.  

Do not get tired.  Do not get weary of doing good.

He was a teacher in his hometown, met and a few years later married my mama in 1969 and then later, with his family, turned aside from his beloved homeland when the country was in turmoil with the then president Marcos' imposed martial law.  I once asked papa back when I was in high school, a question that was part of a homework assignment.
"What would you like to pass down to your child/children?"  
"Honestly and integrity" was his answer.  Papa was of honesty and integrity.  He cared for and supported his children.

He loved to drive, fish and compete in bowling.  He was funny too.  One of my brothers, when he was a baby, had to stay behind in the Philippines because my papa's older sister Lillian sponsored papa to come to Canada.  It was at a time when my parents weren't pregnant yet with their 3rd child.  When our entry into Canada was approved, it was for a family unit of 4 not 5, unbeknown to me.  Four years later, papa travelled from Canada to Roxas City, got Jr. and a new brother was had.  I was 7 yrs old then and I asked papa;
"Ughh . . . where did he come from??"
"From me and your mama"  he replied.  Papa was funny.

He loved to sing, dance, and was a union member of a Burlington, ON manufacturing company that made pine resin oil products; it's by-products and synthetics.  He worked full-time for them as a floor foreperson before his retirement.  He was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Raptors.  Papa tried every year to reunite with family for our reunions, held either here or in the United States.  He was after all, our best lechon carver and server. 

This year on his birthday he continued to work; worked to sustain life for 6 days & 6 nights.  He passed on the 6th day after his admittance into emergency at the hospital.  He was 77 years old.  One of the ten commandments from the Hebrew Bible prepared us "Six days you shall labour and do all your work but the seventh day is Sabbath to the Lord you God"

Do not get tired.  Do not get weary.  Do not get weary of doing good.  Remember the seventh day, a day of rest.

/Galatians 6:verses 7 & 9 of the New Living Testament/ teaches us "Remember you will always reap what you sow.  So don't get tired of doing what is good.  Don't get discouraged and give up for we will reap a harvest of blessing."

We worked together for many years at Hercules Canada & Ted was always happy.  We send our sincere sympathies to his family at this time. 

Ted trained me in Deformer when I first started Hercules Canada.   I enjoy his sense of humour and he was truley missed when he retired.   My deepest ssympathies to his family
