Terry "Shakey" Benger

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, cherished father and friend, peacefully at his home, on June 22, 2012, at the age of 53 years. Terry was a loving and devoted husband to Sandra for just over 25 years. Together they had two beautiful children, who were the light of their father's life, Andrea (Tyler) and Russell (Melissa). Terry couldn't be seen going many places without his trusted best friend Tiggy by his side. To Terry life would not be complete without the love of family and friends, his sister Patti, he was a brother-in-law to Brian (Katherine), Jane (Jim), Tom, Rob and Sharon (Cosmo). Although his parents John and Jeanette had predeceased him, as did his father-in-law Russell, his mother-in-law Eleanor is left with cherished memories. He was blessed with his best friends Randy (Sandy), J.R. (Paula), Tony (Kathy) and Tom (Ann). Extended family and his many friends will miss him deeply. "Shakey", as he was known by his friends at Dofasco, was a diehard fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Bills and couldn't wait to see them win big. He was always one who would cheer big and loved watching most sports. After his retirement from Dofasco with over 30 years of service, Terry settled down at the trailer at Gulliver's Lake with Sandra and their children to spend some good quality family time. There they made many friends and enjoyed just relaxing together. Special thanks to the officers at the Hamilton Wentworth Police and the Ambulance attendants who took such good care of Terry. To celebrate the wonderful man Terry was, we invite you to CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East, on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. there will be a service at Linden Park United Church, 484 East 16th St. (at Southbend Rd. E.). Cremation will follow. In memory of Terry, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
