Peacefully passing at the Juravinski Hospital with her children by her side. She will be deeply missed by her children Curt (Barb) and Marianne (Russ Poppe). Adored Baba to Clifton (Lisa), Curtis (Shannon), Richard (Ryan), Michael Poppe and Lescia (Nicolas Horvath). Great-Baba to Blake, Chelsea, Carter, Nathan, Paige, Audrey and Grayson. Predeceased by parents Sophie and Dmytro Bakun and sister Olga Shugan. Thelma will be dearly missed by other family members. Thelma was a devout follower in Christ at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Byzantine Church. Family and friends will be received at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Monday April 17 from 6-9 pm with Panachyda at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 260 Melvin Avenue, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 10 am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation.
