Tomo Samac

Tomo was a proud Croatian, born in Goljak, Croatia. Beloved husband of Danica (nee Fratric) for 64 years. He was the cherished father of Christine and Tomislav (late Lynn). Loving grandfather of Annysia, Gloria, Celine (Bostjan) Kink and Blanco. He is predeceased by his parents Luka and Mara Samac and sister Ljuba (Tomo) Kozlovac. Tomo was the cherished cousin of Franjo and Mandica Samac and uncle to Mladen, Carolina (John) Kolic and their children. Brother-in-law to Juro (Anika) and the late Stjepan (Ankica), and their families. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends in Croatia. Tomo worked as a bricklayer at Dofasco, retiring after 34 years. Remembered as a kindhearted, generous and fun loving father, grandfather (Deda) and friend to many. He had a passion for gardening, and was very proud of his flowers and vegetables. We would like to thank all the nurses and caregivers who looked after him in his time of need. Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Thursday, October 5th from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm with Rosary at 8 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East, on Friday, October 6th, 2023 at 11 am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In memory of Tomo, donations may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
