Peacefully, on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Victoria Gardens Long Term Care facility in Hamilton, at age 93. Cherished wife of William Wetherald who predeceased her in 1991. Predeceased also by her brother and 3 sisters. Survived by her children Candice, Lenore and Wayne; by her grandchildren Amelia and William and by nieces and nephews.
After her childhood on a farm near Merlin, Ontario, teacher training and employment, marriage to Bill in 1942, and a magnum cum laude graduation from McMaster University in 1952, Verna lived a full life as wife, mother, gardener, member of Pioneer Memorial United Church and active participant in the community, and will be remembered with love by all for her kindness and wisdom.
Visitation will be held at Pioneer Memorial United Church, 1974 King St East in Hamilton, on Monday May 13, 2013, from 10 am to 11:45am where the Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pioneer Memorial United Church would be appreciated by Verna and the family.
