Vlado Stancec

Thank you to the compassionate and loving care of United Mennonite Home in Vineland Ontario. The halls of “Blossom” will forever hear his voice “Ajoj, Ajoj” “Ljepa moja, sama svoja”, “I need some vinćek”.

Vlado leaves behind his sons Ivica (Vera) Walter (Sherry), grandchildren Nakita (Dado), Daniel (Lisa), Brittney (David), Claudia (Elizabeth), Megan (Mathew) and great-grandchildren whom he adored with all his heart, Mate, Klara, Selena, Luka and one due in January 2026. He will be missed by his youngest brother Branko (Hermina), nephew Miro (Sue), Dylan and Melissa. Sister-in-law Kata, Monica, Peter. As well as great-niece Dawn (Nic), Kamryn from Arizona, USA, as well as many family members in Croatia. Thank you to our Kumovi Žubrinic, Kumovi Vrsaljko, Kumovi Dmitrovic for all of the loving support within the years. Predeceased by 3 siblings and always cherished by his deceased eldest half-sister Marica.

Vlado was born on September 3, 1935, to his deceased parents Josip and Bara Stancec. He was the eldest of 6 children raised in a in a small Village named Prnjarovac in Croatia.

Vlado’s journey on this earth is one marked by resilience, love, kindness, and an unwavering faith in God. He was an amazing father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He had a passion for life, loved dancing and being in the company of others.

Vlado worked as a supervisor for Canadian Vegetable Oil in Hamilton, Ontario for many years. He retired at an early age to enjoy life. He loved his homeland Croatia and built a summer home in Klimno Krk right by the Croatian Sea…. "his Jadransko more”! That was his happy place!!! He loved spending 4-5 months out of the year in Croatia. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, chopping trees, and farm work. Anything to keep him busy.

Resting at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton for visitation on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 5-9 p.m. Prayers will be held at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene's Parish, 232 Queenston Road, Hamilton on Thursday, December 4 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Holy Cross Croatian Church, Croatian National Home or the Croatian Community Centre would be appreciated by the family.
