William Lesiw

Peacefully, surrounded by his family, William passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on December 18, 2016 at the age of 94 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Natalia of 58 years. Devoted Tato of Ray and his wife Marta, Lesia and her husband Raymond Sawkiw, Maryanne Lesiw and her husband Sean Clarke and John Lesiw. Doting Dido of Mark (Kristen), Taras, Nicholas (Lindsay), William, Niall, Zenon, Jack, Breanna and great grand daughter Mikaela. Survived by his relatives in Canada and Ukraine. William was a retired employee of Stelco with 43 years of service. He was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Church where he actively participated in the choir and many church functions. William was also a member of the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM). Heartfelt thank you to Dr. Adrian Hornich for his care of our Tato as family physician over the years. Special thanks to Dr. Rana and the staff of the Westdale Wing of Queens Garden Long Term Care for their compassionate care and support over the last 2 1/2 years. Also a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Legassie and the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their exemplary care. Visitation will be held at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. Panachyda at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery in Oakville.
