

1924 – 2018
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25 at St. Peter’s Residence. Predeceased by his loving wife Margaret in 2003. Both will be greatly missed by their children Douglas (Terri), Leonard (Patricia), Sheila (Randy) and Sandra (Paul). Cherished grandfather to Melanie, Lindsey, Paul, Dawn, Jennie, Amanda, Tracey and Jason. Great grandfather to Henry, Lauren, Preston, Blake, Justin, Jessica, Kirsten, Sophie, Alexa, John and Oliver. Bill served in WW2 aboard several ships in the Canadian Navy and later became an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 163 serving on the Colour Party, and as the Cadet Liaison officer. He also volunteered aboard the HMCS Haida, distributed poppies every November and was found regularly dancing on a Friday night after enjoying the Legion’s fish ‘n chips. Bill enjoyed wood carving at Sackville Hill Park Recreation Centre and still found time to travel to both of our Canadian coasts. After retiring from Chedoke Hospital he remained active with frequent walks and bicycling. A visitation for William will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel, 322 Fennell Ave East, Hamilton. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cresmount Funeral Home.
