Peacefully at his home on November 8, 2017 in his 101st year. Beloved husband of Pauline (nee Turay) for 63 years. Loving father of Mary (Kenneth Pickens), Joann, Katherine (Brian Boudreau). Cherished Dziadzia of Jo (Sarah), Alec (Leah), Ben (Emily), Walter and Anna. Pradziadek of Arabelle. Dear brother-in-law of Kazia Kaszyca. Walter will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Poland and the United States. Veteran of WWII in the Polish Resistance, retired employee of Stelco after 32 years of service and a longtime member and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 315. Visitation at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Friday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with Rosary at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Stanislaus Polish Church, 8 St. Ann Street, on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10 am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Donations in Walter’s memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
