Lisa was born on December 13, 1967, and grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lisa was a beloved
daughter of Regina and Francis Skinner. Throughout her life, she was known for her kindness and intentionality in helping others.
Lisa dedicated 30 years of her professional career to The Vanguard Group before retiring. Even before retirement, she flourished in her equally meaningful chapter of devoting herself to volunteer work and charitable service. As the established founder and director of the Strength and Hope Foundation, Lisa worked tirelessly to support individuals and families facing life’s greatest challenges. Through the foundation, her efforts benefited the Abramson Cancer Center and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She was a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and volunteered countless hours at multiple Hospice divisions, leaving a lasting impact on many lives through her work.
The thing that brought Lisa the most joy was cooking for friends and family members. She also enjoyed sharing stories at these gatherings on her back porch. She loved time sitting on the beach at Topsail Island reflecting on the blessings she had.
Lisa will be remembered for her generous heart, resilient spirit, and the hope she inspired in everyone she met. Even while facing cancer with remarkable courage, she remained devoted to her family, friends, and mission of serving others and making their lives better.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; their sons, Sean and Daniel and their cherished
granddaughter, Eislyn; her sisters, Desire and Nancy; and her brothers, Francis and John. She also leaves behind many extended family members, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Lisa's legacy lives on through the family she loved and the lives she uplifted. She will be deeply missed, and will live in their hearts always. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Lower Cape Fear Life Care (lifecare.org).
