Passed July 30, 2026
I was born January 29th, 1940, in Wilmington to Viola Rackley Covil, and Lewis Victor Covil, I was 2nd child of 6 children, being Jim Covil, Tom Covil, Ron Covil, Dean Covil and Amelia Covil and an adopted special sister Felicia.
My parents were hard-working, financially strained but I always knew we were loved and cared for.
I attended grammar school grade 1-9 at Chestnut Street School, Wilmington NC and graduated from High School from New Hanover class of 1958. I cherish my class of 1958, we still meet with friends and classmates to this day! Very unusual!!
I worked as a secretary until my first child, Gary Brickhouse, who is deceased now. Two years later I had identical twins, Jennifer Lynn Brickhouse (now deceased) and Angela Lynn Brickhouse.
After divorce I went to work at Dupont 1972-1981 as secretary. Later I became a realtor, working as a New Home Sales for a builder. While working at Dupont, I met Al Hewett and got married on April 26, 1975. I was always Al’s “Darling”. He was a great caring husband. He would leave me notes everywhere of his love. On the bathroom mirror, car mirror but… never gave me chocolates. He sang at our wedding on his knees. “Welcome to my World”. I love his singing and guitar. Of the marriage to Al (34 years), we have a son Travis Norman Hewett born 1976 and two grandchildren Ayden and Caleb. Stepson, Tony Hewett. I have 7 grandchildren, Kristi, Ayden, Caleb, Destiny, Devin, Dustin and Dillon. Three great-grandchildren, Malya, Haylei and Rylen. Great-Great- Grandchild, Campbell.
I was baptized into LDS Church on Christmas Eve 1954- I later was inactive, but one day in October 2008. 2 Angels being Hyla Smith and Amy Brunjes appeared at my doorsteps through a blessing given I needed the Savior in my life as my husband was very ill. He died 3 months later. Brother Tom and I, being inactive, had a dream the same night that we returned to our church and are active today. My Heavenly Father knew my needs and through prayer, he watches over us always.
I love my family and friends, sisters and brothers.
I have been blessed.
A graveside service will be held at a date and time to be announced at the LDS Cemetery on Hwy 210 in Hampstead, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
