Arline Seay Massie

A native of Bremo Bluff, VA, she moved to the Peninsula in 1942 & was employed by NNS&DD until she married in 1944, a truly happy union lasting 66 years. Her true passions in life were her family and her beloved church, Orcutt Baptist. Her great legacy is one of kindness & compassion, having touched the lives of many in need of shelter, comfort, and love; she welcomed them with warmth, open arms, attentive ears, guidance & her always beautiful smile.

She is predeceased by her husband, James Garland (Gump) Massie; her son, Leland James Massie; and her birth family. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Chesson (Stuart); her granddaughter, Megan Church (Robert); and great-granddaughter, Madison.

We will celebrate her home going at 12 pm, Saturday, January 21 at Orcutt Baptist Church, with a reception to follow in the social hall. Interment will be at Hampton Memorial Gardens at 2:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orcutt Baptist Church, 653 Baxter Lane, Newport News, VA 23602.
