Aubrey Alton Church

He was a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church where he attended services since 1976. He was a civil servant with Langley Air Force Base in the civil engineering department and retired in 1980 after over 30 years of service. He was a World War II Army veteran and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

His family was the most important thing to him. He also enjoyed gardening and all types of sports.

Preceding him in rest are his parents, Albert A. and Eva S. Church. Surviving members of his family include his wife of 68 years, Nell Church; children, Nancy Wainwright and husband, Billy, Gail Wilson and husband, Bill, Jan Peters and husband, Bob, and Greg Church and wife, Anita; grandchildren, Jeff Wainwright, Gary Wainwright and wife, Tracy, Renea Miller, Jenny Edgerton, Andrea Church, and Samantha Church; and great-grandchildren, Ella Wainwright, Colby Wainwright, Elysa Wainwright, and Emily Wainwright.

The family will receive friends at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on Monday evening, March 8, 2010 from 6:30 until 8:00. A celebration of Aubrey's life will be held Tuesday afternoon, March 9, at 2:00, at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
