

Barbara retired in 2003 after a 40 year career in the food service field as a chef. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, a member of the Happy Hearts, and was involved in several church organizations. She was also a member of the Virginia CB Club of Hampton.
Preceding Barbara in rest is her parents, Carl and Willa Nichols; sisters, Shirley Comstock and Laura Jones; brother, Lester Ware. Surviving members include her husband of 15 years, Dean Hoffman; sons, Ted Ramirez, Tino Ramirez, and Brian Menzer; daughters, Sandy Culhane and Tina Bilbo; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Jesse Nichols and Butch Jones; sister, Helen Woods; and closest friend, Marge Ferguson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 20 from 10 to 12 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held Thursday, April 21 at 11 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, Hampton, VA. Interment will be Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park, Hampton, VA
