Sharon and David, I'm sorry this is late but I just saw David's post on the Newport News/Hampton Facebook page. My Dad was the Bishop for about ten years and he loved your dad so much.  They worked on some construction projects together because my Dad was with Security Realty.  He called your dad Bennie.  I remember both of your parents very fondly and loved them very much.  Even though he was 92 I know it was a difficult time for you.  My Dad has been gone for 16 years and I miss him every day.  Much love to both of you.  Barb Simonsen Sehestedt, Emery, Utah

I have many fond memories of Bennie.   I work in the Assessor's office in Hampton and he would call me periodically after he discovered we were cousins. I am the granddaughter of Elesma Moore from Poquoson. My grandmother and Aunt Clara were very close (my grandmother's husband was Aunt Clara's brother, Herbert Christian Moore).  I also have many fond memories of time spent at her home on Shell Road as a child.

 Sharon and David, we are lifting you up in our prayers during this very difficult time. I have fond memories of Uncle Bennie. His warm smile and kind words were contagious. He was a good man with a servant's heart.  Although we had been in Atlanta for a while, he tracked me down and called one day as I was boarding a flight. He said, "this is Ben Riggins and I think I'm your uncle." We had a great time catching up! I hope you find comfort knowing that your dad is now with our wonderful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I recall many occasions of having Sunday dinner with your family. Ben put up with a lot with David's and my escapades.

I am so sorry for the loss of your father.  Ben was a good friend of my Dad and I have know your family for years.  You all hold a special place in the Reece family.  May the Lord bless and keep you in his tender hand.

Sharon I haven known your father for 55 years. I know and took care of his mother before her death. I am a member of Memorial Baptist where his mother went. Your father will be greatly missed by all that he touched by his care. I will keep you in my prayers. I was in the Hospital the day your father passed.  Vanessa L. Sharon, we are sorry to hear of your loss of you father. He was a gentleman who cared about people. It's been 33 years since I worked for him but can remember his laugh and his "working" change orders. Wishing you and your family the very best.

Bennie was my step-grandfather, but I liked him better than my real grandfather.  Ly and I will always remember Ben with love and admiration.

So sorry to hear about your loss. You know that God and Jesus are in the best position to comfort us when we lose a loved one in death.

Ben was my Dad, Bill Reece's best friend and I know they are getting reacquainted in Heaven.  He was like an uncle to me and was always so kind whenever I was at the house with Sharon.  He was an amazing example to follow.  I will miss him.

Ben was a great businessman, a devoted husband and family man, a strong Christian example to me and a wonderful person. I am very sorry for his passing, but am comforted and empowered  by the knowledge he is now with our Lord. All my love to his family,

I was sorry to hear of Uncle Bennie's passing.  He lived a long and wonderful life. I know he is rejoicing in Heaven with all our family that preceded him and walking those streets of gold. My favorite memory of him is at Christmas with the giving of a Smithfield ham to everyone in the family.  I continue that loving tradition and think of him fondly every Christmas.  Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you.

My prayers go out to the entire family. Ben was a great friend to me that started in 1970. He took a chance on me and hired me out of the shipyard and the rest was a 40 year incredible journey. I will truly miss my friend. Rest in peace and I will see you soon brother.  Shelton M Laws
