B was a member of the Chapel of the Centurion at Ft. Monroe for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired in 1976 after 34 years and 10 months of active duty and reserve service. He served during WWII through the Vietnam conflict and received numerous citations.
B is survived by his loving wife of nearly 73 years, Sarah H. Freeman; son, Bernie Freeman, Jr. and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Andi Dobson and husband Tim, and Joey Saunders and husband Mike; and great-grandchildren, Lila Dobson, Fern Dobson and Liam Saunders.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of the Centurion at Ft. Monroe.
