She grew up in Hilton Village and graduated from Warwick High School, briefly working in banking before marrying and starting a family. She didn’t care for travel, but adventured by reading a book a day for decades. She tolerated camping and baseball because her family enjoyed them. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, loved her family dearly, and was loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Cecil Hatchett, parents John Emerson Girton Sr. and Clee Moretz Girton, brother John Emerson Girton, Jr., and sister Mary Frances Bright.
She is survived by her sons, William and Kenneth (Kristin), grandsons Wilson and Chance, sister Nancy Dickenson, and dear friend Nell Johnson.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 27th at 1:00 PM for Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, she would have appreciated donations to the Peninsula Food Bank.
