Bobby B. Bagley

Bobby Byron Bagley, 93, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, just two days after celebrating his birthday. He was born on July 28, 1933, in Macon, Georgia, to Elmer Byrant Bagley and Mildred Irene Glass Bagley.

Bobby dedicated his life to his faith, his family, and serving others. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Lee College (now Lee University) / Tennessee Wesleyan University and later received his master’s degree from The College of William & Mary. He answered the call to serve his country after being drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War.

For many years, Bobby made his home in Hampton, Virginia, and later Carrollton, Virginia. During the final 13 months of his life, he resided in Roanoke County, Virginia, where he was lovingly cared for by his family.

A faithful member of Parkview Church of God for more than 65 years, Bobby devoted countless hours to his church family. He faithfully served as a church council member and Sunday School teacher, sharing his love of God and his wisdom with generations of church members.

Bobby enjoyed a distinguished career in education, retiring from the Hampton City School System after 32 years of service. He taught at Thorpe Junior High School and Lindsay Junior High School, where he positively influenced the lives of countless students. Never one to slow down, Bobby also worked part-time for Sears for more than 30 years, served full-time at the Virginia Air & Space Museum for five years, and later completed a 15-year career with Walmart, from which he retired.

On December 27, 1957, Bobby married the love of his life, Mable Ann Briley. Together they shared 68 years of love, faith, and devotion, building a family that remained the center of Bobby’s life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Byrant Bagley and Mildred Irene Glass Bagley; his brother, Billy James Bagley; and his beloved son, Perry Victor Bagley.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Mable Ann Bagley; his son, Alan Bagley and wife, Susan Bagley; his daughter-in-law, Pam Bagley, widow of Perry Victor Bagley; his five cherished grandchildren: Jeremy Bagley and wife, (Whitney), Candace Bagley, Alana Rickmon and husband, (Matthew) Amanda Saul and husband, (Michael) and Austin Bagley and wife, (Vicky); nine treasured great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members, friends, former students, and church family whose lives were blessed by knowing him.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Carilion Hospice in Roanoke, Virginia, and devoted caregiver, Angel White.

Bobby will be remembered for his unwavering Christian faith, gentle spirit, dedication to education, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family. His legacy of service, integrity, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Church of God in Bobby’s memory.

The family will receive friends for a Visitation that will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park, Mausoleum, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666, on August 8, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life Service will take place following the visitation, at the Mausoleum. The services will be concluded with the Committal and Military Honors, following the service at Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Virginia 23606, US, on August 8, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
