Carmen Sue Hildreth

Carmen Sue Hildreth was born on November 3, 1950, in Pratt, KS, to Cleve Cecil and Nellie Jane (Lambert) Hildreth. She passed peacefully from this life into the arms of her Savior on August 13, 2026, at the age of 75 in her home in Hampton, VA.

Carmen grew up in Pratt, KS, where she attended North School and Pratt Junior High School. On her 14th birthday, her family moved to Skiatook, OK, where she continued her education at Skiatook Junior High and High School graduating with the class of 1969. She furthered her education at Draughon School of Business in Tulsa, OK. Upon graduation, she worked for Phillips 66 Gas and Oil in Kansas City as a key punch operator in the credit card division until Phillips 66 moved to their main location in Bartlesville, OK. Carmen continued to work for them in the IT credit card division where she retired after a successful career of over 30 years.

Carmen made her home in Dewey, OK. She attended First Wesleyan Church in Bartlesville for many years. Then later became a member of the Dewey United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She also enjoyed attending a women’s Bible study with her friends. She enjoyed traveling, collecting coins, stamps and trinkets of all kinds. She resided in Dewey until three years ago when she moved to Hampton, VA, to live with her sister.

Carmen may not have had children of her own, but she had many who claimed her as aunt, mom, grandma or best friend. She was a kind, fun, and loving person who would give you the shirt off her back. She gave people rides to the doctor’s office (sometimes miles away or even out of state), the grocery store, etc., opened her home to many who had no home and helped people move in or out of the state without asking for anything in return. She supported her many “nieces and nephews” by attending their sporting, church and school events. She was a caregiver to her parents, other family and friends when needed. She was a mom to many fur babies over the years. She was continually taking in animals that needed a loving home. Caring for animals was one of her greatest joys in life.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Cleve and Nellie Hildreth.

She is survived by her sister, Carlene Hildreth Barber and her husband, Alan Barber, niece, Jody Barber Tweedy and her husband Robert Tweedy, and great-niece Campbell Le’a Jane Tweedy all of Hampton, Virginia. She is also survived by numerous family members and friends.

The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, September, 19, 2026 at 2:00PM, at Greater Discipleship Center, 1307 La Salle Ave, Hampton, VA 23669. Pastor Phil Major will officiate services in Virginia. Carmen will also be honored and celebrated in Oklahoma, that will be announced at a later date, along with the placement and final committal. Her final place of rest will be at Osage Gardens Cemetery, 2254 W Roger’s Blvd, Skiatook, Ok.
