Carol Watkins Hicks

Carol Watkins Hicks, 69, was called home on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 2, 1943 and attended Hampton High School. She worked for the Hampton School System at Syms Middle School up until she became ill. She was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, sewing and her family.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruby Watkins and the love of her life, N. Edward Hicks. She is survived by her brother, Randall Watkins and wife Barbara; sister, Mary Louise (Weasy) Coleman and husband Tommy; sons, Robert Hicks and wife Kim, Donald Hicks and wife Shari, Kevin Hicks and wife Michele; daughter, Cynthia West; and eight beautiful grandchildren. She was a wonderful friend, mother, sister and Mammaw. Our loss is heaven's gain.

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012, officiated by Reverend William Cashman, in the mausoleum chapel at Parklawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shelton on the Bay, 1300 N. Mallory Street in Hampton.
