Charles "Buddy" H. Rice Jr.

Charles H. “Buddy” Rice, Jr., a native of Newport News, resident of Yorktown, and most recently of Waverly Health and Rehab Center for the past year and a half, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, 29 May 2020. Buddy loved everyone and was a joy to be around. He loved to joke around and make people laugh. He loved his family and the many animals they had over the years. He got to meet and loved Dolly Parton, got a picture of them together; and would have loved to meet Daisy Duke; that was one of his favorite shows. He loved all of his caregivers over the past years (Charlene Martin, Michele Zatorski, Jessie Carmine, Alexis Schanz, Rita Byrd, and many others) and even though he couldn’t remember their names sometimes, he still appreciated everything they did for him (especially if they snuck him "chaw" that he wasn't supposed to have). He was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Maimie Rice; and his brother Robert Rice. He is survived by his children Barry Rice (Bobbi Johnston), Wendy Lamb (Johnny); grandchildren Erica Rice and Kaitlyn Woods; nephews Robbie Rice (Brandy) and Johnathan Rice (Dallas); their children, Landin, Everleigh, and Ella; and his sister-in-law, Suzanne Rice.
