Ms. Cokley was always kind and very helpful to me at Jacox Elementary. She always had an encouraging word at the end of the day. I could tell that she was an enthusiastic and kind teacher with her Pre-K class.  My thoughts and condolences are with her family at this time.

To my cousins Chelsea and Kathleen.   I am so sorry for the loss of your mom, my auntie.  My fondest memory of her was myself as a little girl who loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. 
What made Auntie Charlesetta sandwiches so special is because she would always toast the bread lightly and then afterwards. she would cut it diagonally just because I asked her.  The love she put into each sandwich she made for me will never be forgotten.  She always had a sweet nature about herself.

Read that your sweet mother is now with Jesus.  I've many precious memories of times we shared at NCS.  She also helped to keep my house cleaned.  I still chuckle about one occasion when she let out a loud yell.  Upon investigation we found my cat's mouse under the stove!  She was a dear person and I'm thankful 
 for her influence in my life.  My love and 
prayers to you, her precious daughters.

Words are never adequate in moments like these. However, my heart goes out to the family.  I will always remember the joyous memories that we shared while students at SCJ and our time together at our 50th class reunion. The entire family will remain in my thoughts and prayers.  Continue to trust in God for your strength.

I send my deepest condolences to the family. I worked with Ms. Cokley at Jacox Elementary. I looked forward to seeing her smile before I turned to go down the main hallway. Ms. Cokley was so sweet and kind. She will truly be missed!

Ms. Cokley ("Etta") loved her family dearly and spoke OFTEN of how PROUD she was of her daughters! May the Lord's strength and love comfort you and all who loved her during this time of grieving and forever. She will ALWAYS be warmly thought of!
My deepest condolences.

I had the pleasure of team teaching with you for your first experience in public school after leaving Calvary. We had some fun times and funny moments in room 44! I can remember you loving to hold onto every single empty box that something came out of. They began to fill up in our room. One evening I stayed late cleaning the room and discarded the boxes. After arriving at work the next day, you were so upset about the boxes being gone. We squabbled about it as I complained of what clutter they made and you pleaded that we could always use them for something later. (LAUGH OUT LOUD) You then designated a small area of the classroom near your desk as "the place to store empty boxes" and we continued on with what we did best, teaching and GUIDING our students through learning! This moment became one of the long lasting funny memories from our time in second grade together that we would joke and laugh about for years to come.
Your warm spirit will be missed, Charlesetta Cokley.
May you Rest In Peace and continue to GUIDE amongst the many angels that watch and guide us in God's Paradise.

So sorry to hear about Sister Etta Cokley. She was a very faithful member of Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, VA and was faithful in attending care group when my husband and I affiliated. Ms. Cokely taught my 26 year old daughter ,Danielle in the 2nd grade at Calvary Academy of the King . She was so kind,patient ,creative and loving. Danielle absolutely loved her and so did I.
Ms. Cokely always greeted Danielle and I with warmness and excitement everytime she saw us at church,as recent as a few months ago. 
Her impact on children's lives will be felt throughout their lifetime.I know that our family will always remember her extremely fondly.

Dear Kathleen, Chelsea and family, I am sending you hugs and prayers for the Lord to help you through this difficult time. We'll all miss Etta more than mear words can say. She always kept us all on our toes with "following the rules". She always made us laugh at our weekly pre-k meetings. We are all glad that we gave her a fantastic 70th birthday when we placed 70 helium balloons in her classroom. She was a great teacher and her students will live instilled with the values she taught. RIP ETTA! XOXOXO

I will always remember the "Educator Extraordinaire" who impacted the lives of hundreds of children at Calvary and in Norfolk Public Schools.   I was blessed to have worked so closely with such a kind-hearted and loving person.Her smile and kind demeanor are qualities that will be missed. Prayers and fond memories are what we have to remember our dear friend. I pray that God's love, peace, and comfort surrounds you like a flood!

Carrie I'm sorry to hear about your mother passing; my prayers are with you and your family.
