Christine was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Edna and Harvey Charles, paternal grandparents Catherine and Eric H. Petterson, her parents Eric “Pete” and Florence Petterson, and her brother Eric H. Petterson III.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, George J. Maculley Sr.; loving daughters Rebecca Birtcher and Susan Tomblin (Dan); and step-sons George Maculley Jr. (Michelle) and Michael Maculley (Gwen). She was a proud grandmother to Clarice (Hunter), Colin, Leah, Heather, and Lily, and a cherished great-grandmother to Aubrey and Benjamin. Two sisters, Charlene Hunt and Irene Farrell. Christine also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear family friends.
A woman of strong faith, Christine was a longtime member of Wythe Presbyterian Church and later Hilton Presbyterian Church. She deeply loved her church family and served faithfully as secretary, deacon, and treasurer. She found joy in singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and participating in Vacation Bible School—always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
Christine was known for her remarkable creativity and skill with a sewing machine, needle, and thread. From Halloween costumes and formal gowns to bridal dresses and matching outfits for her daughters, her handiwork reflected her love and care for her family.
Professionally, Christine’s love of numbers and organization guided her career. Beginning as a bank teller, she later worked in accounting and bookkeeping for local businesses and her church. In her later years, she found joy in being a devoted homemaker and babysitter for her grandchildren, sharing with them her warmth, laughter, and gentle spirit.
