

Preceding him in death were his parents, Odell and Effie Monteith; brothers, Eldon and Enoch; and sisters, Edith and Evelyn.
Clyde retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in 1993 after 40 years of service as an X-43 Machinery Installation Foreman, where he made numerous lifelong friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted and loving wife, Mary Alice Monteith; son, Tom Monteith and wife, Cynthy of Chesapeake; daughters, Gail Shutt and husband, Rickey of Williamsburg, and Gwen Cook and husband, George of Newport News; and grandchildren, Crystal Stocki and husband, Steve, Dana and Gina Cook, and Matthew, Nathan and Lindsey Monteith. He is also survived by sisters, Edna O'diear and husband, Robert, Eileen Ollis and husband, Richard, Ella Mae Fisher and husband, Larry, Eunice Pittman and husband, Eddie, Eva Nell Fisher and husband, Cecil, all of North Carolina, and Estalle Shuler of Georgia; in-laws, Calvin Wilson and wife, Margie, Nora Wilson of Virginia, Helen Tucker and husband, Joe and Hazel Elders of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, January 28 at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 29 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.
