

Corbin Lee "Brother" Robbins, 84, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Corbin was born in Brunswick, GA on August 23, 1929 to the late Fred A. and Gladys B. Robbins. He was a graduate of Warwick High School where he excelled in the classroom as well as the football field, once returning an interception for a 100-yard touchdown.
After high school, Corbin served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for four years. His civilian career began at Marva Maid and WVEC before spending nearly 30 years with the Hampton Public School System where he retired in 1991 as a Maintenance Supervisor.
He was a devoted member of First Friends Church in Hampton and held a strong passion for the youth group. He served as a coach with the Phoebus Little League and held memberships in the Royal Stagg Hunt Club and Gordan Creek Rod and Gun.
Corbin is survived by the love of his life of 61 years, Geraldine Robbins of Hampton. Together they were blessed with four children, Debbie and Edward Ballard of Hampton, Corbin "Corky" Robbins, Jr. of Smithfield, Cheryl and Charles "Mick" Mikula, Sr. of Dover, DE, and Alex Robbins of Hampton; his pride and joy were four grandchildren, Matthew Black of Hampton, Charles "Micky" Mikula, Jr. and Bryan Lee Mikula, of Dover, DE, and Crystal Robbins of Newport News; and his great-granddaughter, Julia Elizabeth Mikula of Dover, DE.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Virginia Oncology; his nurses, Leslie, Mary, Georgann, and Lisa; Helen and Lisa from Heartland Hospice; and home health aid, Vickie.
The family will greet with friends from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Friday, February 28, 2014 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Corbin's life will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday in the chapel of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home with interment and honors rendered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the First Friends Church Youth Group, 1062 Big Bethel Rd, Hampton, VA 23666.
