My step brother and closet friend...I'm just finding out....this is beyond belief that he is gone ...one of the saddest days of my life....

I've known "Little David" since the day he was born. His father, Dr. David L. Bland, Jr., was my first cousin. Prior to moving to Virginia, the Bland family resided in Sanford, NC where his father was the only black physician in the community and his Aunt Miriam was the only black pharmacist. His grandmother and grandfather were also pioneers in the community. Little David's mother, Elizabeth Lorraine Price Bland was also a great mother and educator in North Carolina and Virginia. In July, 1958, at the age of 11 years old, I was in the wedding of Little David's parents,

I've known him for 20 years and though I have never met him, I have learned a lot from him. I  remember him as a warm-hearted and generous person. I will forever be grateful for knowing  a friend who helped me in ways that he could and taught me to accept the ups and downs of life. He may have been gone but he will always be remembered for a life well lived. 

I pray that God grants your family the strength and comfort during this difficult time. May he rest in eternal peace. 🤍

My condolences to the bereaved family.  I knew David through my friend Jeanne Amoyo.  He's a good person.  May he find rest in the bosom of God. I pray comforts for his family.
