Dave was born on October 22, 1955, in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, VA. Much of his career was spent as a welder/borescope operator. One of his greatest professional honors was being part of the team that supplied parts for the Space Shuttle Endeavour. He recently retired from Alcoa Howmet in Hampton, VA after 30+ years of service.
He was a wonderful and devoted father, husband, brother, and grandfather. He taught us the value of hard work and the importance of supporting family. When Dave wasn't working (which was hardly ever), he could be found rooting for his favorite sports teams: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins!
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine and Edward Burak, Sr., and his brother, Edward Burak, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Betty Burak; daughter, Charlotte Lowdermilk (Kyle); sons, David M. Burak, Jr. (Jennifer) and Robert Burak (Jessica); and grandsons, Kaleb, Alex, Ethan, Benjamin, and Joseph; brother, Henry Burak (Debbie) and sister, Karen Downing (Howard).
A visitation for David will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia. A Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
