Dawn Marie Hustus

Dawn Hustus of Poquoson, Virginia passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026. Dawn was born in Brooklyn, New York to Lillian Anna (Obermeyer) Thomas and Robert Ernest Thomas. Both of whom predeceased her.

Dawn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John H. Hustus, Sr. They met and married in Fort Riley Kansas, where John was active duty in the Army and Dawn was a DoD civilian contractor working in Logistics. Dawn and John spent most of their life as residents of Hampton, VA and were members of Fox Hill Road Baptist Church.

Dawn had a large supportive family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Danette Clack; son, Michael Sosnowki; stepson, Robert Hustus; granddaughter, Sissy Clack; and niece, Beth Walenka-Kawczynski. She is survived by her children/stepchildren: Daniel Sosnowski (Kori), Patricia Mullis (Martin), John Hustus, Jr. (Sheri), Tommy Hustus (Kathy); her grandchildren: Renee Anderson (Kyle), Joseph Hiltner (Maria), Daniel Sosnowki Jr., Sean Sosnowski, Logan Sosnowski, Skyler Hustus, Edward Roberts; her great grandchildren: Aurora Anderson, Thor Anderson, and Fausto Hiltner; her siblings: Richard Thomas (Joyce), Linda Kawczynski (Dennis, deceased), Bonnie Wawrzyniec (Tom), Robin Kendrick, Kim Kanouff (Walter); her nieces and nephews: Richard Thomas (Michelle), Tara Thomas, Carissa Berghorn (Darrin), Eric Kawczynski (Janet), Lynn Flett-Kawczynski, Michael Kendrick (Miranda), Holly Berghorn (Matt), Jimmy McCollister, TJ Harper, Steven Harper (Jessica).

Dawn dedicated her life to her career as a civil servant, her church and her family.

The family will receive friends on February 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm for a visitation, with Celebration of Life service to follow at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA. 23666.
