Deloris Ferguson Dudley, 79, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011. She happily served as the Admiral on the Seven D’s with her husband David Lee Dudley Sr. “Captain Dave” who predeceased her on January 12, 2002. Oma, as she was known to family and friends, was a native of Poquoson, VA and was born December 1, 1931 to the late James Ferguson and Hilda Martin Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by her much loved son-in-law, Mike Hazlewood and her cherished sister-in-law, Sylvia Hurst Ferguson.
She is survived by her children, the “Crew of the Seven D’s” Deborah Hazlewood, Donna Dee Dudley, David Dudley, Jr. (Janet), Dennis Dudley (Lenora), Donald Ray Dudley. Also, her aunt, Sarah Forrest; brothers Terry Ferguson and Bobby Ferguson (Mary); grandchildren, Aaron (Rasan), Michelle (Steven), Amanda (Mark), Rodney (Nellie), Nicole, Melody, Chelsea, and Destiny; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Zoey, William, Lacy, Jake David, and Cash; sisters-in-law, Helen Nist and Betty Faulker; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who remember her generous spirit.
Friends are invited to visit Thursday, July 21 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. where a celebration of Deloris’ life will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
