Donna Jean Craft

Donna Jean Craft, 84, of Newport News, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 17, 2023. She was born on July 31, 1939 in Braxton County, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Virgie Chapman, and by her brother, Oval Chapman.

She was a beloved wife for sixty-five years to David Craft; a cherished mother to Michael Craft, Craig Craft (Carol), and Mindy Beasley (Andrew); grandmother to Christopher, Steven, Amanda, Marshall, and Gray; and great-grandmother to Evan and Micah. She is survived her sisters, Gwen Arnold and Anita Moyers.

Donna grew up in Akron, OH and following her marriage to David, she lived both overseas and across the United States before settling in Newport News. She had a 35-year career in the Civil Service for which she received numerous awards. Upon retiring, she became a volunteer at Langley AFB Hospital. Donna had a heart of gold, and she made it her life's mission to care for her family and friends.

She will always be remembered for her caring spirit. Donna touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service to celebrate Donna's life will be held at 11:00 AM on October 7, 2023 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Avenue Hampton, VA 23666. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Heart Association in Donna Jean Craft's honor.
