

Dorothy Lee Cheeseboro, 78, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away on December 20, 2023. She was born on June 15, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Ruby L. Cheeseboro and Isreal Cheeseboro becoming their only child. Dorothy was the beloved mother of Shannon D. Freeman (Malcolm) and the adored grandmother of MacKenzie G. Freeman. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, grandmother (Everlina Crittenden), and uncles (J. Hank Crittenden and Walter Whaley).
Dorothy dedicated the majority of her professional life to a career as a psychiatric nurse at Riverside Behavioral Health for over three decades. Her compassion and dedication to helping others in their times of need earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and patients alike. In 2015, Dorothy retired, leaving behind a profound impact on the lives she touched throughout her esteemed career.
Dorothy found solace and strength in her unwavering faith, finding comfort within the walls of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was an active and devoted member of the Senior Ministry, where she found joy in the fellowship and spiritual connections shared with her church community. Additionally, Dorothy demonstrated her commitment to service by actively participating in the Daughter of The Elks organization, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to various charitable endeavors.
A celebration of life service for Dorothy will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia.
Ms. Dorothy will forever be remembered for her unwavering generosity, captivating smile, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her memory will be eternally cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
