Edward Cortez Cannon

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patsy Cannon. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, William (Stacey), Albert (Michelle), and Daniel (Samantha), along with his beautiful and treasured grandchildren, Tyler, Gracie, Lincoln, and Lily.

Born and raised in Oak City, North Carolina to the late William Blaney and Winnie Mae Cannon. He is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Nancy Ruth Hall, Mildred Reed, W.B. Cannon, Wilbur Cannon, Winnie Mae Cannon, Elvin Cannon, Agnes Borrow, Dallas Cannon, Virgil Cannon, Myrtle Jean Cannon, Sybril Przypek, Margaret Moodie, Curtis Cannon, and Douglas Cannon. He is survived by his siblings Jim Cannon (Karin), Thelma Parker (Leon), and Carolyn Lewis (Monnie), along with many more nieces and nephews.

At the start of his career in 1964, he joined the Army and served two years with a tour in Vietnam. When returning from military service, he worked as a transformer manufacturer in Hampton, VA. In 1968, he married the love of his life, Patsy Turner, in the backyard of her childhood home and their current residence. They had three boys that were his most prized possessions until his four grandchildren arrived. He was actively involved as a little league coach at Mallory and Northampton for his three sons and never missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s events even when he was beginning to become ill. He fought hard against the agent orange disease and to see every milestone in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. He lived a very fulfilled life.

The family is taking visitors at their home in Hampton, VA. The celebration of life will be on Sunday, May 29th, 2022 with visitation at 1:00 pm and services beginning at 2:00 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23666. Afterward, the graveside will be at 3:00 pm at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens located on 155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA 23666.
