It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Ernest Couture announce his passing at the age of 63 at his home in Hampton, VA. After suffering from a severe fall in 2012 that his doctors said would have killed any normal person, God gave us 12 more years to enjoy his time among us. While he suffered more than his fair share of physical and emotional pain, he had the ability to remain strong, find humor in life, and bring joy to everyone around him. The only consolation in his passing is that he is out of pain and resting peacefully with his beloved oldest daughter, Candice, and his Moms.
Edward (Ed or Eddy), was born in the Netherlands on Feb 22, 1961 to John Couture and Jeanette (Coates) Couture. As an Air Force “BRAT”, he moved frequently - to California, New Hampshire, Illinois, and Florida - before settling down for good in the Hampton, VA area. He was smart, athletic, funny and talented - once, surprising the family by sitting down with a beer and a cigarette at our cousin’s wedding reception and aptly playing Elton John on the piano to dropped jaws around the room. He was a meticulous artisan when it came to building anything from small crafted items to beautiful houses and he made that his passion and career. His creations leave a legacy that many will enjoy for years. His true passion though, was for his daughters, and he did not let anything become a higher priority.
Eddy was preceded in death by his biological mom, Jeanette (Coates) Couture, stepmother, Louise (Moore) Couture, eldest daughter, Candice, brother Alan, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his precious daughter Michelle and her daughter Carmen, father John, sister Deborah (Tim Parker), brother Scott (Donna Irwin), sister Carol, and their kids, as well as a blessedly long list of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will hopefully bring strength to each other while fondly remembering him as the gift he was to all of us.
A visitation for Eddy will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. Please wear jeans and a flannel. The inurnment will take place Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Parklawn Memorial Park. For those who would prefer to donate, in lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Lackey Clinic that helped Ed with his health for many years; https://lackeyclinic.org/,1620 Old Williamsburg Rd., Yorktown, VA. 23690.
