Edward Arnold Wyatt, 83, of Dunmore, WV passed away May 6, 2026 at his home in Hampton, VA. Born May 9, 1942 in Smithers, West Virginia, and was a son of the late Emery Kermit and Nellie Frances Perry Wyatt. He was preceded in death by infant twin sons, brothers Tom and Emery Wyatt, and a sister and her husband, Judy and John Estilow.
Ed was a member of the Baxter Presbyterian Church in Dunmore. After serving in the Army, he completed an apprenticeship with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 540 from where he retired.
After his retirement, Ed didn't slow down, he simply shifted his focus to the things he loved most: his family and his land. He was a constant presence in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, teaching by example and sharing his wisdom. Most days, he could be found in his barn, either working on a task or thinking about his next project. Ed was so well known in his neighborhood he earned the title “Mayor of Brogden Lane”. Whether he was out in the woods calling in a turkey, riding on his tractor, or spending hours splitting firewood, he found his greatest peace in the rhythm of hard work and the beauty of the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Rita Hettinger Wyatt “Schatz”, son Ronald Kermit Wyatt and daughter, Michele Katharina and her husband Mike Mazzenga of Hampton, three grandchildren, Rachel, Katharina and her husband Ryan, and Nathan Edward, seven great grandchildren Hazel, Reagan, Sawyer, Journey, Story, Titus and Elijah, brother in laws, Herbert Hettinger and his wife Helga and Robert Hettinger of Germany, sister in laws, Cora Lee Carpenter and Evelyn Wyatt of WV and their families.
There are no words to describe the love and kindness he showed to the people in his life. He was dedicated to his family and friends, never knowing a stranger and always seeking to make everyone feel welcome and valued. We will forever cherish the time we had with him and the stories he shared will remain part of his legacy.
To honor his memory, make someone smile today.
We will come together to celebrate his life at a later date, details to follow.
