

She was born in Amherst, VA, to the late Bessie and Russell Alcock. After graduating from Amherst High School, she moved to Newport News and married her childhood sweetheart, John W. Boyd. She worked with him at Boyd Nurseries until her retirement. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, B. Caroline Alcock, Anne T. Richardson; and brother, Edwin Alcock.
Survivors include sister, Mildred A. Jester of Mechanicsville, VA; two brothers, Alfred M. Alcock (Betty) of Lynchburg, VA and Robert M. Alcock (Liz) of Amherst, VA; two children, Belinda B. Neff (John) of Phoenix, AZ and John Wesley Boyd, Jr. (Marie) of Newport News, VA.; three granddaughters, Kristina Boyd, Elizabeth Collado (Miguel), and Meredith Boyd; two step-grandsons; and three step-great-grandchildren of Arizona.
Later in life, Elizabeth met and married Lewis C. Parsons, Jr. and moved into their home at The Arbors in Port Warwick. He preceded her in death in November of 2009, after five years of marriage.
The family would like to extend its appreciation to Kimberly Hurley, Debra Hice, and Mulat Hailemariam for their devotion and excellent care given to our mother over the years. Appreciation is also extended to the nursing staff on the Jefferson Wing of James River Convalescent Center for their attention to mom for the last three months.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Grace United Methodist Church, with a celebration of Elizabeth’s life to begin at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
