

Ellen Marie Przytula, 78, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family the morning of February 3, 2024. Ellen was a native of New York, but had settled in Hampton, Virginia for more than 44 years.
Ellen, as many of her family and friends knew her, was a devoted and loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt.
Ellen loved going to the beach, reading, listening to music, cooking/baking and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Her grandchildren brought so much joy to her life.
Ellen was a devout Catholic and member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. She participated in several charitable organizations including Knight Cappers, Lions Club, school for the death and blind and USO by including young enlisted men and women in our holiday gatherings.
After Ellen married her high school sweetheart, William, she traveled the world with him as he pursed his career as an Air Force Pilot. She enjoyed being a military wife, supporting her husband with his endeavors and seeing the world. They were in this journey together.
Not only did she take care of her family, she also pursued a career of her own. After settling in Hampton, she went to school to become a dental assistant. She worked for several dentists in the local area as a dental assistant and office manager. After retirement, she took on a new exciting and rewarding role as part time caregiver to her grandchildren. She loved every minute of it.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Marjorie Pierce; husband, William Przytula; and brother, H. James Pierce Jr.
Ellen is survived by her son, Michael (Julie); grandchildren: Austin, Tucker and Wyatt; daughter, Michele (Heath); grandchildren: Bryant and Brayden: brothers and sisters, Glenda Stanley; Sharon Anderson; Mitchell (Lynn Sue) Pierce; Dena Pierce-Farrell (Dave); George (Beth) Pierce; Debbie (Frank) Schneider; Barbara (Christopher) Dickenson; Frank (Teresa) Pierce; and many nieces and nephews.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 19, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 Buckroe Avenue Hampton, VA 23664. The Mass will be officiated by Father Dillon Bruce, with the assistance of Deacon David Reaves, and a live stream of the service can be found on the church’s website. Arrangements are by Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Avenue Hampton, VA 23666.
