

Eric was a native of Newport News, Virginia and leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving wife Ovette; mother Leota Finnell; siblings Kimberly Finnell-Wright (Diverel) and Dexter Brown (Deborah); two daughters Na’Tasha Slade and Ebony Holloman; two sons Jason Austin and Eric Finnell Rogers; one step son Brian Morton; 15 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memory two dedicated pets Spartacus Finnell and Taz Finnell. He is preceded in death by his father Richard Sawyer and his grandmother Leona F. Bacon.
Eric was a Master Mason at East Gate Lodge No. 21. Eric loved spending time with family and friends laughing and creating loving memories. Eric professions included being an entrepreneur and a professional driver, holding Commercial Drivers License. Although his roots were in Newport News, Eric ventured out and took up residence at one time in Georgia, Montana and Maryland. Eric was a man who lived life on his own terms and that is what made him the man we all loved and will truly miss. A celebration of Eric's life will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
