Ethel Grace Phillips Gardner

Grace Phillips Gardner passed on March 9, 2017 just 3 months shy of her 93rd birthday. She is predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Archie James Gardner. She is survived by her children, Nan Gardner Hailey and her husband, Chuck of Richmond, VA, Lisa Gardner Souhrada of Virginia Beach, VA, grandchildren, Kara Hailey Walsh (Ryan) of Richmond, VA, Lyndsay Nicole Hailey of Las Vegas, NV, John Thomas Souhrada, Jr. (Krystina) of South Hill, VA and great grandchildren, Kayla, William, Thomas, Hailey Mae, and Sawyer.

Grace was born in Wilson, NC and grew up with 4 sisters and 2 brothers. She moved to Virginia in the mid 40’s and made her home in Hampton where she was a member and sang in the choir of Fox Hill Road Baptist Church. Her last employer was NASA for 22 years in the personnel department. Her last few years were spent at The Hermitage in Richmond. She loved music and dancing and was always entertaining to be around.

A graveside service for the family will be held Tuesday, March 14th at 2:00 pm at Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton, VA and a Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 18th at 2:00 pm at The Hermitage Chapel in Richmond, VA.
