

Eugene was born in Littleton, N.C. on Oct. 26, 1929 to the late Tillman and Dianna [Sykes] Boyd. He resided in the Newport News/ Hampton area for 75 years.
Mr. Boyd was widely respected for his unassuming personality, moral character and deeply committed faith. He will be affectionately remembered for his good humor, selfless service, tireless work ethic, and as a man of few words.
Eugene was a faithful member of Ivy Baptist Church for over 45 years. In this capacity his ministry included work with the maintenance staff for 29 years, and lending his voice to the Male Chorus, Serenity Choir, and member of the Missionay ministry. His church family recently honored and blessed him with an “Honorary Deacon-ship” for his faithful commitment to the church and its tenets.
In the early 1950s, Eugene met and married Lillian Beatrice Pitt. Their union lasted nearly seven decades.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Beatrice Boyd; loving sister Helena Marble, sister in-law Elizabeth Boyd; sons, Eugene P. Boyd (Sharon), and Jerome Boyd (Alberta); daughter, Pamela [Boyd] Wyatt. His grandchildren includes Casi K. Wyatt, April Wyatt, Simone Boyd and Lauren Boyd. His great-grandchildren are Ca’Naz Wyatt, Faith Adams, Nathan Wyatt, Ta’Naiya Taylor, and Casi C. Wyatt. He also leaves in bereavement a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by a twin sibling who died at birth and an infant daughter, Sharon Denise Boyd died at the age of 4. He is also preceded in death by brothers, Glen, Marvin, Hubert, Leman, sisters, Ethelean, Lillian; step-mother, Maggie Garner; step-sisters, Dorothy, and Lillian.
