Frank Pope was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 16, 1937, to the late Frank and Irene Pope. Frank was one of three children, including his twin sister, Theresa, and younger brother, Larry. In the early 1960s, Frank accepted the Lord as His Savior through the Word of Life Ministry in New York City.
In 1962, he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War, receiving an honorable discharge in 1967. Following his military service, Frank met his wife, Isabel, at church. They were engaged in 1968 and married on February 22, 1969. Soon after they were married, he began his career at Diamond International Corporation in New York City, working in the accounting department. He was later
transferred to Bangor, Maine, where he and his wife, Isabel, celebrated the birth of their only son, Frank. After 14 years in Maine, his job took him to Ludlow, Massachusetts, where he lived and worked for another 19 years before retiring and relocating to Virginia to be closer to family.
Wherever God led them, Frank and his family were faithful members of a local church. He served in various roles and instilled in his family that God would always be the center of their family. During his retirement years, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren Tyler and Alyssa. He had the pleasure of teaching them how to ride bicycles and fly kites. Exploring the playgrounds of various parks was always a fun adventure with “Pa.”
Despite living in Massachusetts, Frank was a lifelong New York Yankees fan and enjoyed a good hotdog with mustard.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Isabel; his son, Frank (Kim); his grandchildren, Tyler (Allee) and Alyssa; his great-granddaughter, Audree; and his brother, Larry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Irene, and his sister, Theresa (Joe) Carson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Bethel Baptist Church Extend the Vision Building Fund.
